With Takamine’s distinctive NEX body style, the P5NC is a singer’s delight, combining the power of a dreadnought with balanced tone that perfectly complements the vocal range.
It features a resonant solid spruce top with “X” top bracing for superior balance and articulation, solid rosewood back and rosewood sides, a convenient Venetian cutaway for easy access to the upper reaches of the fingerboard, and elegant ivory body binding with dark wood purfling and abalone rosette.
Built with the performer in mind, the P5NC features Takamine’s proprietary CTP-3 Cool Tube™ preamp system paired with the unique Palathetic™ under-saddle pickup for peerless amplified response. The dual-channel CTP-3 provides low-voltage tube tone, variable from bright and brilliant to thick and warm, three-band EQ with semi-parametric midrange, auxiliary input and volume (for use when a second pickup is added), and an onboard chromatic tuner.
Other performance-enhancing features include Takamine’s asymmetrical neck profile – which is slightly thinner on the bass side so that it fits the natural shape of your hand, resulting in a comfortable feel and improved playability. The split bone saddle provides more accurate intonation, while bridge pin positioning optimizes the break angle to improve sustain and presence.
Premium design appointments include a rosewood fingerboard with abalone “dot-in-dot” inlays, a rosewood headcap, gold tuners with gold buttons, a natural bone nut and gloss natural finish. The P5NC comes complete with a premium archtop hardshell case.

This original Takamine body is a scaled-down Jumbo at heart. The NEX has a silky balance to the tone that supports vocals beautifully.
Its longstanding devotion to innovation and continual improvement has placed it among the world’s premier acoustic guitar makers, with truly fine instruments that are the first choice of performing guitarists worldwide.
With humble beginnings in 1959 as a small family-run guitar shop nestled at the foot of Mount Takamine in the central Japanese town of Sakashita, the fledgling company took the mountain’s name in 1962 and began in earnest the journey that led to the phenomenal success that is the modern Takamine company.
The timeline outlines that remarkable evolution.
