Lyden er stor og kraftig men likevel velbalansert slik at alt du spiller virkelig høres. 50-serien kommer i to ulike kroppsformer; som klassisk dreadnought og som Takamines egen NEX-body som ligner litt på en mini-jumbo. Begge variantene fins med og uten pickup-system. Pickup-systemet er Takamines eget og kalles TP-4DT med innebygd stemmeapparat og 3-bånds equalizer.
