Spector Legend 4 Standard – Tobacco Sunburst
4-string Electric Bass with Ash Body, Maple Veneer Top, Maple/Pakauk Neck, Amara Fingerboard; 1 Split-coil and 1 Single-coil Pickup – Tobacco Sunburst Gloss
Value-packed 4-string Bass with Iconic NS Style and Tone
The Spector Legend 4 Standard’s iconic Ned Steinberger-designed NS body, beautifully rendered in lightweight ash with an eye-popping flamed maple veneer top, delivers style and performance that meet the needs of working pros and weekend warriors alike. The Legend 4 Standard’s easy-playing bolt-on neck is built from three pieces of hard maple and fortified with a heavy-duty dual-action truss rod for rock-solid stability. On top, an amara fingerboard with dot inlays delivers classic Spector playability. Onboard you’ll find a pair of custom-wound Spector P/J pickups and a proprietary active 2-band EQ packing 12dB of boost and cut. Whether you’re staking your claim in the Spector Bass landscape for the first time or looking for a high-performance stage axe.
Powerful Spector P-J pickups
The Legend 4 Standard holds down the low end in style. That’s largely thanks to a pair of powerful Spector pickups, fitted in classic “P-J” configuration. This arrangement gives you the low-end punch from the split-coil P-style pickup in the middle position, along with the aggressive growl from the J-type single-coil at the bridge. Mix up your signature blend, and you’re ready to rock.
Active 2-band EQ
The Legend 4 Standard comes equipped with a proprietary preamp circuit with interactive bass and treble controls that provide for 12dB of boost or cut. Combined with individual volume controls for each pickup, the Legend 4 Standard has the sound-shaping capabilities to handle any style of music you’re likely to encounter.

Spector Guitars was founded in Brooklyn, New York in 1976 by Stuart Spector and Alan Charney, both of whom were members of the Brooklyn Woodworkers Co-op that shared space in an old factory building. It was there that Stuart learned machine woodworking from Billy Thomas, a friend and founder of the co-op. Business started in 1976 with sales to Gracin Music on 48th St in NYC. Both G-1 electric guitars and SB-1 basses, designed by Stuart, were in the original product line.
Among the other members of the co-op was Ned Steinberger, who had recently completed training in furniture design at Cooper Hewitt museum. He became interested in the work Spector was doing and offered to design a bass. Ned had learned that “form follows function,” and used that philosophy in designing the NS bass guitar, with an elegant, ergonomically-curved design and the neck-thru body construction that Spector was already utilizing. The first NS-1 bass was built in March, 1977, and was later followed by the two-pickup model, the NS-2, in 1979.
Today, the design, craftsmanship and history of Spector Basses have made them one of the top choices of the world’s top bassists.
